The value of engaging an experienced landscape designer was demonstrated on our landscaping project. Emily introduced new thinking and concepts which resulted in a far better outcome than had we followed our own design thoughts.

We initially hesitated to engage Emily to project manage the construction phase as a money saving thought, but we are glad we went ahead and engaged her in this role. The devil is in the detail and Emily was all over the detail, ensuring our design was delivered by the construction team as intended.  I am sure we would not have achieved the same result without Emily’s assistance with both design and project oversight. Emily's knowledgeable, creative and thoughtful approach made it easy for us to trust her with our project.

Emily's attention to detail is testament to the creation of our beautiful garden.

Working with Emily has been easy, flowing, & liaisons’ with trades has been seamless. Emily’s responsiveness and ability to get a timely result has been much appreciated.

Landscaping on a steep gradient can be a challenging. We decided to enjoy the beauty of our garden from above, and though we will rarely venture down into it (due to the slope), Emily has provided us visual delight from various vantage points above and enhanced our garden's unique features.

We chose to work with canopy because they understand the North East of Victoria, its micro climates and quirks. We wanted a designer who would help us work with some technical problems like an eroded gully and multiple springs and turn these, where we could, into features.

We also wanted someone who would respect the features and trees we had already, and incorporate them into new spaces  that we could enjoy, with our extended family and friends.

We also wanted a designer that could project manage, and source trades, plants and materials locally where possible. We knew we didn't have the time and skill to do the project management and sourcing, nor solve the quirks and opportunities that inevitably arise when you commence a project. Emily and her team did all of that! 

Emily worked with us to test ideas, challenge us where our ideas were off kilter, and inspired us where we were vague...She respected our quirks, and incorporated our planting and design preferences ( where they would work!). When working with a designer, you need to be clear on your budget as it is very easy to want to do more - Emily helped us problem solve and prioritise what we could do and what we could get someone else to do for us!

From a design perspective, we were keen to experiment and create something beautiful that could continue to evolve, and Emily did just that. I'm loving the spaces we have created, particularly the iron steps and landing in our gully and evolving native landscape; our beautiful stone steps and curvy spring waterway, and replenished garden beds. 

As project manager, she solved problems with the contractors as they arose, and kept the project on time and on budget. The contractors she sourced were great to work with and flexible when needed.

We're thinking of coming back for more work and will definitely be working with canopy again.

Canopy design studios have transformed our space into a place of order, beauty, function and ease of maintenance.

The rough slopes have been smoothed into gentle lines with bold accents in stone and plantings. Our raised garden beds and small orchard will provide us with years of produce, fun and colour. We're loving the flowers coming out after just a few weeks, and can't wait to see how all of the trees and plants it looks after a year of seasons.

Emily helped us work through considerations for bushfire safety and as well as consultating throughout the project with the main contractors, helping us to integrate other trades such as metal works and lighting. She was with us both on site and electronically every step of the way.

Emily is just so knowledgeable and passionate about greenery!

We live in an Alpine Region and were able to discuss suitable design and appropriate planting with her for maximum results.
